Jo Holdsworth reflects on 2017

As we wave goodbye to 2017 and welcome 2018 I would like to thank our clients, candidates and fantastic team at JHR for achieving another record-breaking year.

During 2017 we completed the second phase of the renovation on our building which was purchased to ensure that we have enough space to meet the ever-expanding needs of the business as well as to provide a modern, light, vibrant space for both our team and for our clients and candidates to visit.

We have welcomed three new members to the JHR team. Ellis and Rebecca as candidate consultants and Ellisha as a recruitment consultant, and all three have quickly established themselves as valued members of the team with Ellis and Rebecca due to progress into consultant roles during 2018 and Ellisha into the role of Senior Consultant.

We also waved a temporary goodbye to Katie and Davina who left for maternity leave during 2017 and look forward to welcoming and supporting them back in their roles during 2018.

I am pleased to announce that we have achieved 38% growth within our temporary division from 2016 to 2017 and have seen a further 17% growth within our permanent division with most of our clients significantly expanding their headcount during 2017, which is a great endorsement of the strength of the Leeds economy during an uncertain business climate.

We have achieved our highest turnover, profitability and number of candidates placed during 2017, our most successful year to date,  and to react to this Jenn and Becki will be growing their teams during 2018 so we expect to see further internal promotions as well as a significant increase in our headcount.

During 2017 we also looked at how we could use more innovative ways of working, using new technology to improve our efficiency and to further enhance our candidate and client experience, following our investment in Office 365. Other developments are a move to VOIP telephony and a digital registration process and using IPADS rather than forms. We plan to continue to invest heavily in marketing and advertising and have implemented a comprehensive and ambitious social media engagement and content strategy plan, to ensure we leverage all marketing channels to find the best talent for our clients.

We were extremely proud of the candidate reviews we received via Facebook during 2017, having achieved 101 5-star reviews, which is testimony to the quality service offered by the JHR team and from the candidates who put their trust in JHR. During 2018 we will continue to provide the same high levels of service, thoughtfully matching candidates to the right role, to ensure that we continue to provide a 5-star service to both our candidates and clients alike.
