Description

We are currently seeking an experienced International Trade Consultant with specific knowledge in the Technology sector to contribute towards the delivery of export targets and funded exported growth contracts, by sourcing and developing suitable businesses in the Yorkshire and Humber Region. 

We are seeking an export professional with impeccable consultancy skills, business advisory abilities and a particularly sound understanding of the technology industry. You will work closely with organisations in the region to help them create an international trade strategy, working with them to ensure they maximise their capability to grow through international trade.  

Initially this role will be working on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2021 but does come with longer term prospects past this date.   

Responsibilities 

  • Educate businesses on the benefits of different types of trade support 
  • Provide consultative advice to tech-focused clients on overseas trading plans and support them in developing business plans   
  • Support in the design and delivery of international trade strategies with clients 
  • Developing action plans with clients making best use of the programme’s development support packages 
  • Identify potential clients and check they meet programme criteria 
  • Deliver face to face (currently virtual) consultations and support to identify further business support requirements 
  • Manage multiple key business relationships 
  • Act proactively to keep the programme’s performance at or above target 
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers to ensure all clients are delivered support within agreed timescales  
  • Attend appropriate networking events and conduct presentations required to raise programme awareness  
  • Work with other internal sector specialists and marketing teams to develop and deploy technology sector plans, campaigns and events for the Yorkshire and Humber client base 
  • Upkeep of continuous personal development to maintain a high level of knowledge and skills to fulfill the role 

   

Experience, skills set and/or qualifications required 

  •  Ideally degree education or have appropriate business-related qualification 
  • Strong exposure to international export/trade 
  • Previous consultative / business advisor experience  
  • Essential – Strong understanding and experience within the technology sector and/or its subsectors, including but not limited to: Smart Cities, electronic hardware & systems, mobile & wireless comms tech, Saas, AI, Internet of Things, data analytics, could services 
  • Knowledge of international trade issues and the mechanics of trading overseas 
  • Must have a full, clean drivers license 
  • General knowledge and awareness or business issues affecting UK economy 
  • Awareness of and ability to converse with business leaders on finance related issues,  particularly on UK Export Finance related service 
  • Strong market research ability 
  • Client focused approach to work 
  • Proven experience of developing and maintaining key business relationships 
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills 
  • Excellent time management, ability to prioritise, multitask and work under pressure 

  

Hours: Full time Mon – Fri 

Salary: Base salary £35,000 – £40,000 + Car Allowance 

Location: Field based – Yorkshire & Humber
