Company Accountant

A brilliant opportunity for an experienced Company Accountant who enjoys taking ownership of a varied, hands-on finance role within a small, established business. This is a self-sufficient role, working closely with Directors who are not finance-led, so they need someone confident managing the full accounts function from start to finish. The role can be either full time or 4 days per week or flexibility around daily hours working 5 days per week. The current Accountant finishes late September, so an earlier start would be required to allow as much handover as possible. 

The role

This is a lovely, steady accounts role within a small. extremely friendly business. It would suit someone who enjoys being the finance person in the business, taking responsibility for everything day to day and keeping things running smoothly.  Once established it will be very manageable. The business is in a profitable and organised place and needs someone reliable, capable and self-sufficient to take over the ongoing finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Managing the day-to-day accounts function
• Preparing management accounts
• Sales ledger and purchase ledger oversight
• Bank reconciliations
• VAT returns
• Payroll support/processing
• Credit control and payment runs
• Cashflow monitoring
• Liaising with external accountants/auditors (only if required)
• Supporting the Directors with financial information
• Maintaining accurate financial records and controls
• General finance administration and ad hoc accounts duties

What we are looking for

• Previous experience in a similar Company Accountant / Finance Manager / all-round accounts role
• Confident managing accounts independently
• Able to work without finance support from Directors
• Strong attention to detail
• Good organisation and time management
• Comfortable in a small business environment
• Reliable, steady and hands-on approach
• Export experience would be useful but is not essential
• Available to start quickly or on a short notice period ideally

Salary:  £45,000 to £53,000 pa dependent on experience and profit share scheme
